The Opportunity
We are looking for QA Consultants to work in our Solution Domain Group delivering and managing the end-to-end QA process. QA Consultants are responsible for designing and running tests on software functionality, performance, and usability. QA Consultants conduct tests (often automated), analyse the results, and report observations to the development team. Also act as customer advisory and understanding of QA framework.
To be successful as a QA Consultant, you should have a working knowledge of software and test design, the capability to run through tests, and the ability to analyse the results. Ultimately, the should be result-driven, have good communication skills, and up-to-date knowledge of software programming and software test design
The role will be passionate about delivering exceptional, user-friendly software, and have a drive to innovate and continuously improve testing methodologies.
You will work within a high-performing Agile team delivering exciting new products. Our teams are highly self-organising, and you will be expected to fit in to our self-starting, highly motivated team ethos. You will be responsible to your fellow team members, and report progress to the scrum master and the product owner.
Our products solve problems and unlock data on the physical asset lifecycle. You will be working with a mix of teams who are developing our next generation software products on our Arcadis Gen platform as working with teams who are working our existing product sets. We are rapidly expanding the number and size of our product teams, which you will be instrumental in facilitating.
Your Responsibilities
- Reviewing software requirements and preparing test scenarios.
- Executing tests on software functionality, performance, and usability.
- Analysing test results on errors or bugs, usability, new functionality, or performance.
- Preparing reports on all aspects related to the software testing carried out and reporting to the design team.
- Customer advisory for QA process and interact with customer QA team
- Participating in design reviews and providing input on requirements, application/product design, and potential problems.

Pre-Planning Activities
- QA Consultant are involved in Pre-planning and Story grooming sessions and especially add value in the following activities:
- Defining testable user stories, including acceptance criteria
- Determining the testability of the user stories
- Creating acceptance tests for the user stories
- Participating in project and quality risk analyses
- Sprint Planning – Involved during Sprint and especially add value in the following activities:
- Draft regression test cases or converting existing regression test scripts into Gherkin test scripts/features
- Verifying automated tests using Automated Test Suite
- Recording bugs identified during testing in JIRA
- Feedback/collaboration with the test team via Slack and Confluence
- Integrating and Executing Automated Tests on a CI server
- Performing testing of new Features
- Testing in Sprint – QA Consultant are involved during Sprint and especially add value in the following activities:
- Testing of new or modified Features
- Writing Automated Regression Tests for new and existing features
- Integrating and Executing Automated Tests on a CI server
- Feedback as soon as possible to the team in case of any issues
- Update Acceptance Tests when new scenarios are thought of
What You Bring
The ideal candidate will have a degree in a computing, mathematical or scientific discipline and have several years commercial testing experience in an agile environment. They will have appropriate professional qualifications (e.g., ISEB Software Testing) and be passionate about delivering high quality software and market leading products.
Beyond that we are looking for someone who takes pride in the quality of the software and can balance short-term and long-term perspectives as well as balance the day-to-day tasks whilst also maintaining a focus on the overall solution.
We want someone who is a problem solver and has knowledge and experience in:
- Agile Testing Mindset
- Customer advisory
- Understanding, implementing, and updating the agile test strategy
- Testing covers multiple areas of application/product but not limited application, Integration, and performance
- Work with SME/Product Owner to define Acceptance Criteria and the Definition of Done.
- Measuring and reporting test coverage across all applicable coverage dimensions
- Ensuring proper use of testing tools
- Configuring, using, and managing test environments and test data
- Writing and executing automated checks and reporting back to the team
- Reporting defects and working with the team to resolve them
- Ensuring the appropriate testing tasks are scheduled during release and iteration planning
- Actively collaborating with developers and business stakeholders to clarify requirements, especially in terms of testability, consistency, and completeness
- Participating proactively in daily stand-up meetings, story grooming sessions, team retrospectives, suggesting and implementing improvements
- Within an Agile team, each team member is responsible for product quality and plays a role in performing test-related tasks is looking to continuously improve their skills and knowledge
