Job Summary:

The Project Manager is a key member of the Retail IT Project Management team responsible for the execution of strategic IT projects from initiation through close to support the needs of the business. The Project Manager will lead selected projects in person. The role is responsible for determining and delivering solutions to approved budget and schedule commitments, while meeting required quality and compliance standards. General focus areas include stakeholder management, risk management, and delivery of business benefit.

This role requires strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Especially important are skills and experience related to managing large scale technology deployments in complex business environments.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and manage project plans for the Retail IT projects
  • Manage and coordinate project budgets, forecasts, tasks, schedules, risks, change management, and status to support effective decisions and project reporting to stakeholders and steering committees
  • Manage and coordinate interdependencies between project work streams
  • Manage relationships with senior business stakeholders to ensure the effective capturing of business requirements and commitment to project objectives.
  • Drive effective risk and issue management, ensuring existing processes are used effectively; ensure problems are resolved and escalate as appropriate
  • Build cohesive project teams and provide the management and governance necessary to maximize success
  • Own project improvement plans and oversee execution of remediation plans
  • Manage changes to project scope, ensure that all impacts and changes are approved and appropriately communicated to stakeholders and steering committees
  • Develop and facilitate sustained service transition plans including controlled hand-over into support and maintenance
  • Ensure expected benefits realization is consistent with project deliverables and clearly understood by stakeholders and project teams

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; business, engineering or science disciplines preferred

Work Experience:

  • 5+ years of professional work experience
  • 3+ years of solid project management experience
  • Experience in estimating work efforts in a professional services environment
  • Demonstrated ability to identify business and technical impacts of user requirements and incorporate them into project plan
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects to timely completion
  • Experience in technology management, knowledge management, project management, and quality management
  • Documented experience performing in a global and multicultural environment
  • Documented experience in creating and maintaining project plans
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage schedules across different workstreams
  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Hands-on experience as a software developer or engineer is highly advantageous
  • Hands-on experience supporting multiple projects and teams in a global program environment is highly advantageous

  • Experience working in a global organization where stakeholders and project team members are geographically dispersed
  • Ability to lead diverse teams with strong personalities or management styles
  • Proven skills and experience managing and controlling greater than $500k project and project budgets
  • Strong knowledge and experience with suppliers, supplier solutions and supplier management
  • In-depth knowledge of project management processes and techniques
  • Understanding and experience with the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Flexible, enthusiastic approach to work including a strong desire to succeed
  • Fast learner that can think “out of the box” and come up with creative solutions
  • Ability to organize and track large numbers of simultaneous activities
  • Ability to see risks and recommend mitigation approaches and identify issues while managing effective outcomes

  • Above average facility with Microsoft planning and collaboration applications: SharePoint, Project
  • Working familiarity with relational databases (Oracle, Microsoft Access and SQL Server) and AWS

  • Excellent interpersonal communication and relationship management skills
  • Ability to influence people and thought processes without direct authority
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English language
  • High confidence level and ability to remain calm and focused to enable teams to come to agreement on next steps
  • Strong meeting facilitation and leadership skills
  • Experience working with Senior level management and Head of departments and speaking in business terms around impacts, progress, and next steps
  • Solid interpersonal communication across multi-cultures
  • Able to author cogent presentation documents without significant supervision
